Description

Into the Wild is a 6-hour small-group adventure that takes you along Senja’s southern coastline with its beaches, through the peaceful mountain valley of Gjeska, and into the western fjords. This tour is ideal for those who enjoy nature, wildlife, and exploration at a relaxed pace, with plenty of time to stop, take photos, and fully experience the scenery.

Along the route, there is a high chance of seeing reindeer, moose or seabirds. We adapt the tour depending on season, weather, and group interests, making the experience personal and flexible. This is not a checklist tour — the focus is on discovery and connection with the nature.

Guests also have the option of a short or longer hike in Ånderdalen National Park:

  • Short hike: ~1 km to the first viewpoint
  • Longer hike: ~5 km to two viewpoints (reduces time for other stops, but gives a deeper experience of nature)

Traveling in small groups ensures a flexible and personal experience. Your local guide shares stories about Senja’s wildlife, nature, and life in the north, providing insight beyond guidebooks.
Into the Wild complements other Senja tours by providing a different side of the island, where wild landscapes and quiet moments create memories that go beyond the usual tourist route.

Getting from Tromsø

Staying in Tromsø? Reaching Senja is simple and fast.

You can take the morning express boat directly from Tromsø city center to Finnsnes — a comfortable and scenic crossing through fjords and coastal landscapes. The tour begins shortly after the ferry arrives, so everything is smoothly timed with no rushing or stress.

Beginning the tour in Finnsnes allows for a full 6-hour exploration of Senja, making the most of your time on the island.
Instead of spending hours on long transfers, your day is focused on discovering Senja’s landscapes, viewpoints, and hidden corners.

After the tour, you’ll return to Finnsnes in time for the afternoon ferry back to Tromsø.

Additional logistics:

  • Monday–Wednesday: Return ferry from Finnsnes at 18:00, Thursday-Friaday ferry at 14:30 and 18:45
  • Friday: Optional drop-off at Lysnes Kai, with a return ferry at 16:05
(There’s a small local shop and a café area where you can comfortably wait for the ferry.)
  • Saturday: Pick-up at 09:20, return ferry at 16:45

This setup makes it easy to experience Senja in one day from Tomsø— without changing accommodation, renting a car, or feeling rushed.
